Primary Producers SA (PPSA) warmly congratulates former Executive Chairman Rob Kerin on being appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List.
Mr Kerin was recognised for distinguished service to the people and Parliament of South Australia, particularly as Premier, to regional and economic development, and to primary industry.
PPSA Independent Chair Professor Simon Maddocks said the honour reflects Mr Kerin’s exceptional contribution to South Australia and his lifelong commitment to agriculture and regional communities.
“On behalf of the PPSA Board and South Australia’s primary production industries, I extend our sincere congratulations to Rob on this well-deserved recognition,” Professor Maddocks said.
“Rob’s career has been defined by service, leadership and an unwavering commitment to regional South Australia.
“Whether as a farmer, parliamentarian, Premier or industry advocate, he has consistently championed the interests of primary producers and rural communities.”
Professor Maddocks said Mr Kerin’s contribution to the establishment of PPSA was particularly significant.
“Rob led the successful transition from the South Australian Farmers Federation to Primary Producers SA and served as our inaugural Executive Chairman.
“His vision and leadership helped create a modern, united and influential voice for South Australia’s primary industries.
“The formation of PPSA was a landmark achievement for the sector. Rob understood the importance of bringing industries together to strengthen advocacy and ensure primary producers had a respected and effective voice in policy and decision-making.”
Professor Maddocks said the impact of Mr Kerin’s leadership continues to be felt across the agricultural sector today.
“Rob has always brought integrity, pragmatism and a deep understanding of both farming and public policy,” he said.
“The foundations he helped establish continue to support PPSA’s work on behalf of producers across the state.
“This appointment as an Officer of the Order of Australia is fitting recognition of a lifetime of service and achievement. We thank Rob for his outstanding contribution and congratulate him on this significant honour.”
